JOE GILMAN
Joe Gilman directs the music theory program and jazz improvisation courses at American River College, is music director of the Capital Jazz Project in Sacramento, and is a regular instructor at the Brubeck Institute. He has earned music degrees from Indiana University and the Eastman School of Music, and a doctorate in education from the University of Sarasota. Joe is a four time finalist in the Great American Jazz Piano Competition and has twice been a Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassador to Africa. He has performed professionally with Woody Shaw, Slide Hampton, Bobby Hutcherson, Dave Liebman, and has recorded with Joe Henderson and Bobby Shew.
