STEVE ROACH

Steve Roach is the new director of Jazz Studies at CSUS. Roach, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in trumpet performance from Indiana University and a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance from Northern Illinois University. He comes to CSUS from Baylor University where he served as Director of Jazz Studies and was a performing member of the Baylor Faculty Brass Quintet. Professional appearances as an assisting artist include studio and live sessions with such jazz/pop musicians as Tito Puente, Bob Mintzer, Louis Bellson, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Clark Terry, Lou Rawls, Ben Vereen, Bill Conti, and many others. In addition, Roach has toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and performed shows for Walt Disney World & the Ringling Brothers Circus. Recently, Steve has released his debut jazz compact disc entitled No Way Out. The CD is comprised of original compositions and arrangements by Mr. Roach and features many of Colorado's finest local musicians.
